Textastic for iPad – a coders dream
The iPad’s a convenient device for sure, but if you’re a coder it’s hard to let go of something like BBedit and use your iPad for writing or hacking. Well now you can fully embrace your iPad and get your hands dirty in code, with Textastic, which has recently been overhauled and updated to version 3.
Textastic has build in support for more than 80 file types, including all the usual suspects (HTML, XML, PHP, CSS, C++ etc) and you can add more using TextMate-compatible syntax definitions. The app can connect and sync with FTP, FTPS, SFTP (SSH connection), WebDAV, iDisk and Dropbox clients, offering full portability of code. It also comes with a special programmer’s keyboard overlay which gives access to those obscure characters coder use. It’s available in the App Store for $9.99USD, now.
